Labuan Bajo Trip (Komodo Islands): Swimming & Snorkeling at Pink Beach, Taka Makassar, and Sebayur

[this post is bilingual]

In my previous post, I told you that I was really afraid of sea and all of its creatures. It's a bit weird, looking back why I joined Labuan Bajo trip as half of the trip contained dipping your self into the water. Well, maybe I got tired of it and wanted to heal it.

Komodo Islands have a lot of beautiful swimming and snorkeling spots. In this trip, we visited 3 spots: Pink Beach, Taka Makassar, and Sebayur.

Pink Beach

A lot of pink-sand beaches in Komodo Islands. The one that I visited on my second day was the one that already filled with people, especially foreigners. But people said it was actually not as packed as it is usually. Luckily there are still a many spaces to swim and snorkel. At first, I couldn't see anything under the water. Then I saw white fishes that had almost the same colour as the sand. I decided to swim further and started to panic when I saw more weird fishes showed up. But then I realized that the fishes wouldn't touch me, I got more relax. The other thing that caused me panic was when the water got shallower and my feet nearly touched the corals. I quickly turned around and swam back to the land.
Should I snorkel, or not...

Tired of trying to ride my flamingo to the water. The current kept pushing it to the shore. I gave up.

I did it! I snorkeled!

I stole a goose, hahaha

Taka Makassar

Sand Island of Taka Makassar is one of my favorite spot. Imagine, in the middle of deep sea, there is a tiny island made of sand that has tosca coloured water that is shallow and warm. Feels like having a private pool. The sand is even pinker than the Pink Beach. But be careful, there are a lot of sharp rocks and coral pieces that might hurt your feet.

I love the colour of the water!

Look at the water. So shallow.

Sebayur

When we went to Sebayur, we didn't go near the beach, but directly dived down from the small boat. At the first snorkeling spot, I got several stings on my skin that surprised me. But the instructor said those were the small jellyfishes and wouldn't harm us. I also saw a stingray hidden underneath the sand and also oyster.

Mereka berenang muter-muter di dalam air, kayak mau show off minta direkam, hahaha. Gemes deh pokoknya.

Then, we moved to the spot near the resort. On the way there, we were so excited seeing about 5 dolphins swimming and jumping around our boat. Felt like they were escorting our ship. They were rolling inside the water beautifully, like wanted to show off to us. So cuuute!

Bagus banget pokoknya!

When we arrived near the resort, I got really surprised seeing so many schooling fishes underneath the jetty. From the small ones to the bigger ones, they swam in group like a bunch of millennials. This was the most tiring spot for me, because the current was so strong that I either had to kick using my fin strongly or holding onto the jetty. But it was wonderful!

Oh, if you're going snorkeling anywhere, do not ever step or break the corals.

See you in my next post!
